Herbes de Provence Recipe

Because of its versatility, herbes de Provence is the perfect spice to experiment with on many of your recipes.  Try with roasted chicken or fish and olive oil, tossed with your favorite root vegetables and some coconut oil,  even sunny-side-up eggs for breakfast take on a whole new meaning with the lavender found in this classic Provence staple.

There’s even a Wild Bonus found in the essential oils of lavender: The results in this study [Am J Physiol Gastrointest Liver Physiology] showed a boost of healthy bacterial populations in the gut while providing antimicrobial benefits as well.

INGREDIENTS

*I go heavy on the lavender.  You can always adjust the amount to your preference. 

8 tablespoons dried thyme
6 tablespoons dried savory
6 tablespoons dried lavender flowers
3 tablespoon dried marjoram
1 tablespoon dried mint
1 tablespoon dried chervil
1 tablespoon dried tarragon

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine all ingredients together in a spice bowl, like these made from olive wood.
